Get Faced with Diane Farris Gallery
August 7, 2008
Along with large cedar figurative sculptures, traditional Chinese portraiture of Mongolian women, and Nick Lepard’s 5×6 portraits of male faces, Angela Grossmann is showing her reclaimed photographic works. Grossman uses a photo transfer process of 50 to 100-year-old photographs, where she blows them up and transfers them onto paper or Mylar and then creates a fictional persona from the actual face.
“It’s great to see how each artist views their portraiture and the variety from the more abstract to the painterly, to the detail orientated approach and our artists have been quite responsive to it.”
Portrayal will be on display from Thu August 7-Sat August 30.
